There are so many things to do and see in Colorado. Here is a list of my top ten favorite things.
This list isn’t for everyone. If you enjoy nature, history, learning, and pausing to experience the little things, you will find something for you on the list.
I have only been to Bent’s Old Fort once so far. The living history experience was complete with a guided tour, roaming cats, and a stop at the gift shop on the way out.
We were all engaged with different aspects of the experience, which doesn’t happen very often.
This is absolutely my favorite state park. It is about 20 minutes away from me which makes it easily accessible. The Keep Colorado Wild pass helps the park be affordable.
The wildlife I have seen there includes American Bald Eagles, fish, snakes, and turtles.
The combination of mass transportation, free days, and range of art makes it a place that if I could just live inside of it I would.
I have so many amazing memories of my kids when they were younger in the children’s section. There are kids’ packs to guide their journey through the museum!
A place where both nature and science come to life through exhibits and interactive displays is my kind of place.
Free days throughout the year help me see the rotating exhibits that are on display.
The dinosaur exhibit (picture) is one exhibit I enjoy seeing each time we visit.
Murals are scattered throughout Colorado, including the Denver area. They celebrate art, culture, and life.
This mural was spotted while I was waiting to switch trains at an RTD station.
There are times where I wander Denver just to see what murals I come across. It’s like a mural scavenger hunt.
I debated just making a section called public art but sculptures do bring me that much enjoyment that they deserve their own section here.
This sculpture was in Parker near a trail. They are very cool visually but also often have story behind them which is adds to the intrigue.
Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge offers a drive through experience, black-footed ferret section, Bison viewing, and trails.
The ease of the trails, free entry, and Bisons (for course!) make it a visit to remember in an urban location.
The east entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park is wonderful but often a bit crowded.
A recent trip to the west Entrance had me day dreaming of living in Grand Lake and visiting RMNP regularly.
I plan on making this an annual visit.
This list of ten favorite things is going to stop at eight for now. It is truly difficult to decide what my top ten things are.
Despite being here for over ten years, I know I have only experienced a tiny fraction of what Colorado has to offer.
This spot is for the adventures that are yet to happen.
