The Morrison Nature Center at Star K Ranch is conveniently surrounded by Interstate 70, US-287, and Interstate 225 in Aurora, Colorado. We don’t live far, so we took the scenic route. It took us about 15 minutes to get there by taking local roads.

The center is a hidden gem amongst a semi-industrial area. Other than a small sign pointing you in the right direction, you wouldn’t know it was there.

The nature center holds exhibits and reference material. You can spend some time reading books and talking to the staff and volunteers while learning more about the wildlife around you. We saw a baby tarantula, bullsnake, and western box turtle in the nature center.

The nature center offers special events, like the Earth Day celebration. The nature center events are often free or low-cost and have events for children, adults, and families.

Star K Ranch is the 250 acres of land surrounding the nature center. During our visit, we saw a bald eagle. The bald eagle was sitting high on a tree on the left side of the first bend on the path. I recommend bringing binoculars if you have them. We also saw a duck floating along the stream. There was a viewing area next to the pond.

The Morrison Nature Center at Star K Ranch is a great place to walk amongst nature while enjoying the sounds of nature
